Junior Developer at Building Blocks

Building Blocks is a digital agency based in Manchester, UK, San Francisco, USA and Zaragoza, Spain. The agency designs and builds complex websites and digital apps for global organisations.

My role as a Junior Developer involved:

  • Development and delivery of technical solutions by designing, implenting and testing.
  • Involvement of the full development lifecycle process.
  • Design, develop and modify modules based on functional and system requirements.
  • Implemented a solution which integrated a third party infographics into our content management system.

Current technologies: C#, ASP.NET MVC 4, SDL Tridion 2013 for content management (using with DD4T), Apache Solr for search, RESTful services for data, TeamCity for integration, Git for version control and Amazon Web Services for virtual servers.

Developed my Personal Site

Feb 2015 - Apr 2015

Began work on implementing a personal site. I'm using GitHub Pages to host my site. I used Twitter Bootstrap to use an existing template to jump start the project. I then used Vertical Timeline from CodyHouse to create a compelling timeline.

My role as a Graduate Developer involved:

  • Designing and implement an internal report management web application with other graduates.
  • Designing and implement a microsite to advertise a client's key products.
  • Maintaining and supporting client's sites, including participation in software release.

Software Developer at Civica

Civica is a market leader in specialist systems and business process services that help frontline organisations around the world to transform the way they work.

I was involved with developing a new prescribing application that will sit alongside and integrate with Civica's existing ‘Paris’ product line.

The project involves the development of a browser based system with a strong emphasis on usability and user experience which utilises the latest in Microsoft technologies.

My role as a Software Developer involved:

  • Taking part in Agile Sprint Planning and Retrospective meetings.
  • Implementing user story tasks.
  • Testing, including unit and acceptance testing.

Technologies used: C#, .NET 4.0/4.5, WCF, RIA services, Silverlight 5 and SQL Server 2008 R2.

Speaker Liaison Officer at TEDxSalford 1.0

Sep 2011 - Feb 2012

TEDxSalford 1.0. The first TEDx event held in the MediaCity at the recently renovated Salford Quays with speakers such as:

  • Irene Khan: Former Secretary General of Amnesty International
  • Dario Auterio: Lead Researcher at OPERA Collaboration in CERN
  • Anne Lise Kjaer: Futurist and Trend Specialist
  • Col. Roland Garan: Astronaut from NASA
  • Prof. Vito Di Bari: One of Europe's most renowned futurist

Identifying and securing speakers while acting as a link to assist communication and cooperation between the delegated speaker(s) and the conference management team. Worked closely with the futurologist and Innovation Designer for the Expo 2015 Vito Di Bari to provide a one-on-one administrative support.

I studied Computer Science for four years. One of which included a year out for an industrial placement working as a Software Developer for a software house called Civica. The course culminated in my final year project: "Interactive Scrum Board using Kinect and TFS". I graduated with 2:1 degree.
